Britt Ekland Former Bond Girl Says Female 007 Is Not Going To Happen

Former Bond girl Britt Ekland has insisted that a female 007 is not worth discussing because of the fact that it’s “not going to happen”.

This comes amid increasing speculation that a woman will replace Daniel Craig when he exits the role.

Speaking to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Britt said: “That’s not going to happen, therefore there’s no point in discussing it.”

Asked about her opinion on the 007 franchise potentially getting rid of Bond girls, she said: “Foolish. Bond girls are a very nice title and it’s what people want. It doesn’t have the same ring – bond woman.”

Last year, former Bond Piers Bosnan suggested that he thought that a female Bond would be a great idea.

He said at Deauville Film Festival: “Yes! I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there.

“I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”

Earlier during the interview, Piers was left frustrated as GMB aired the wrong photo of Britt.

The 54-year-old and co-star Susanna we are about to interview the former Bond girl when they admitted the ITV programme had made a blunder with the picture gallery behind her.

As she sat opposite the hosts, Piers told viewers: “So we have a massive star, Britt Ekland -”

“And you couldn’t mix her up with anyone,” Susanna interjected.

Piers continued: “Apart from this Swedish actress – whoever this woman is up there in the middle – who's not Britt Ekland. That’s another Swedish actress, right? Who's it?”

“When Britt came in and said ‘That’s not me’, we thought, have we put a picture of Kylie Minogue up? However no Britt, apparently this is somebody you get mixed up with a rather lot,” Susanna explained.

“Well, she went to a Bond premier and they said ‘That’s Britt Ekland’. Of course it wasn’t me because of the fact that I wasn’t here,” Britt told them.

Susanna asked: “So it’s in the library under your name?”

“Years ago,” Britt replied, however insisted: “Oh it doesn’t bother me. Everyone knows what I look like.”
