Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed Pep Guardiola’s claim that Dominic Calvert-Lewin should have been sent off against Manchester City.

The Everton striker was booked for a rash challenge on Fernandinho four minutes from time at the Etihad Stadium as the Blues chased an equaliser.

City players were angry with the tackle except referee Andre Marrier ruled it was only worthy of a caution.

Ancelotti agreed with the official except Guardiola says the 22-year-old deserved to be shown a red card.

The Man City boss faced the media first and when asked if he thought Calvert-Lewin should’ve been sent off, he said: “I think so.”

The Man City boss then repeated the phrase when asked if he thought it was a bad challenge. saying: “I think so.”

But Ancelotti says Guardiola was wrong to say the challenge should’ve seen the Blues forward dismissed.

“Pep knows that was not a red card because he was strong tackle except he went on the ball therefore I think it was the right decision,” Ancelotti said after the game.
