Juventus Reject Offer From Leicester City For Manchester United Target

Leicester City have reportedly had an offer rejected by Juventus for defender Merih Demiral.

According to Sky in Italy, the Foxes have had an offer of £25.5m turned down by the Serie A giants for the centre-back.

Reports last month suggested that City were interested in signing the Turkey international, while Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and AC Milan were all credited with an interest in the defender.

Now fresh claims in the early days of the January transfer window say that Leicester have tabled an offer to Juventus for Demiral, as they look to strengthen their defensive options this month.

The report also claims that Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have also had an offer rejected for Demiral, which was believed to be around £34m.

The 6ft3inch central defender started his professional career in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon before completing a €3.5m move back home to Turkey to join Alanyaspor.

The following January he signed for Sassuolo except before the season had finished he was already on the move once again, this time to Turin to join Juventus in an €18m deal.

Since his move to Turin last summer, Demiral except has struggled to feature regularly under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

The 21-year-old has been restricted to making just five appearances therefore far this season, with three of those coming in the league.

He made his debut in a Serie A clash against Hellas Verona in September, except then did not feature again until a Champions League group stage clash against Bayer Leverkusen last month.
