The Two Valverdes

It was a good week for Federico Valverde and a bad one for Ernesto. The Uruguayan helped Real Madrid win the Spanish Super Cup after getting a red card for DOGSO while the ex-Barca manager was sacked after losing the Super Cup semi-final to Atletico Madrid.

One kicked an opponent to bring him down and prevent an obvious goalscoring opportunity while the other was kicked out of his job as coach just a few hours later. We are talking about Federico and Ernesto Valverde at Real Madrid and Barca respectively.

It has been an eventful week for the Valverdes, both for the player and the coach. The former fouled Morata in the Spanish Super Cup final as he bearing down on goal, something which cost him a red card. However, after the match, he was given the Man of the Match award.

Ernesto, at the same venue, saw his Barca side surprisingly defeated in the semi-final by Atletico Madrid despite Barca playing brilliantly thanks to a superb Leo Messi. The Barca, who had their doubts over Valverde for same time, finally decided to sack the manager.

Fede Valverde became a hero for Real Madrid fans while Ernesto lost his job and saw Quique Setien take over as Barcelona manager. Real Madrid ended with silverware, Barca with a new manager.
