Valencia’s Captain Suspended For Saturday’s Clash

Valencia will be without their captain and key player Dani Parejo against Barcelona this Saturday. The midfielder received a red card in the last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Mallorca.

The Spanish FA refused to revoke his dismissal which means that Valencia’s captain won’t be able to help his team against Barcelona.

Parejo has been a crucial player for Valencia this season. He has already scored eight goals in 27 matches in all competitions. For example, he netted an equalizer from the direct free-kick in the dying minutes of the Atletico Madrid game.

Moreover, Parejo is good with the ball as he averages a stunning 86.8 passing accuracy this season.

Still, Parejo has quite a negative record against Barcelona. He has faced them 22 times in both La Liga and Copa del Rey and lost on 15 occasions. However, he played for 65 minutes in the Copa final last season which saw Valencia sensationally beating Barca 2-1.

Barcelona travel to Valencia this Saturday, January 25. The reverse fixture between the sides resulted in a spectacular 5-2 win for the Catalan giants. Luis Suarez registered a brace, Frenkie de Jong scored his debut goal for Barca while two other goals were netted by Ansu Fati and Gerard Pique.
